There are plenty of freelance makeup artists and hairstylists or other salons in Dearborn. Unless you like the tacky, overdone look - I suggest you find someone that will take the time to listen to what you want and at least PRETEND to care that it’s your special day. Unlike the stylists at Salon West that act as though your very existence is an inconvenience to them. They ruined my engagement & wedding photos.
I was very happy with how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding... hair stayed flawless the whole night and makeup was on point even when I cried..
Worst experiences ever. I did my hair and makeup for my engagement and wedding at Salon West. Unfortunately I didn’t learn the first time around. For my engagement I told her I wanted natural makeup, the woman told me “it’s your engagement you can’t look like you don’t have makeup on” then proceeded to do whatever she wanted to do. I asked to see a mirror while she was applying it and she said “No I’ll keep it a surprise.” Needless to say I looked like a clown. My face was a completely different color than the rest of my body and my eyes were glued shut because of how she applied the fake lashes. Eyeliner all the way around my eyes and thick colored eyeshadow. When she was done I was too shy to confront her and I had to be on time to my engagement party. I walked to my car crying and wiped the makeup off and reapplied it myself.
Clean, nice music, friendly staff. Parking sucks because of construction. Coffee bar is stocked well and the snacks are top notch. My colorists Helena and Sawsoun are very talented and fast.
My daughter went and got her hair done here. She had black hair and wanted light brown. She was okay with bleaching her hair to make this possible. Instead, the color looked the exact same when she got home. That would be okay if she wasnt charged $140. Apparently the hairdresser charged for time and my daughter was there for 5 hours. The hairdresser had to dye and redye my daughters hair several times which took extra time but did not change her hair color at all. This place is a scam and just takes your money. I highly recommend going somewhere else in the area.
I went back to them for my hair on my wedding day because I saw so many photos of girls with nice results on their Instagram and they are one of the largest salons in Dearborn. I did my makeup at a freelance makeup artist and she did a wonderful job. My sister in law made the hair appointment for me and mistakenly made it for a formal hair appointment rather than bridal. So I walk in the morning of my wedding and the woman to do my hair, Helena J., said that there wouldn’t be enough time to finish my hair. Then she takes me to the back, and starts aggressively pulling and tugging on my hair and does not speak to me. I asked for her to place my hair in a loose updo or just pull it back but she ignored my request. Then she said I’m lucky the person after me cancelled because she had more time but doesn’t make any improvements to my hair. Then applies my veil and still charges me the bridal fee of over 200 dollars. My hair was hideous the day of my wedding.
Cannot say enough amazing things about this salon. Everyone was so welcoming and kind and my stylist , Amani , was an absolute sweetheart who went above and beyond with my hair. I couldn't be happier with the end result and it's the prettiest and healthiest it's ever been. Definitely recommend, you won't regret it!
